The
lovely and talented
Hyapatia Lee (pronounced: high-a-PAY-sha) was born Vickie Lynch in
November
1962. By 1980, she was performing regularly as a stage actress at the
Black
Curtain Dinner Theatre, in Indianapolis. By 1982, Vickie had changed
her name
to Hyapatia (in honor of her American Indian ancestry). She was a
regularly-featured exotic dancer at the Red Garter Lounge, where
owner John Najem would introduce her: "Here she is-- the lovely and
talented Miss Hyapatia Lee" to much applause from the audience. In
early
1983, she went to Hollywood to become a movie star. Hyapatia Lee became
a
classic adult film star. Beginning her film career in 1983, she made
about 3
dozen films until her retirement in 1993. She was married to director
Bud Lee for a few years, and they had
some children together (they divorced in 1993). In 1993 Hyapatia was
inducted
into the XRCO Hall of Fame. She was given the "Lifetime Achievement
Award"
from the Free Speech Coalition in 1995. Nowadays, Hyapatia performs as
the lead
singer in her rock band Double Euphoric. Even though her movies were a
bit
risqué, Hyapatia is a wonderful person, and has spoken out
actively for environmental
issues and animal rights, & human rights. She often permed her hair
curly
to avoid continuous type casting that she felt was disrespectful of her
American Indian ancestry. Hyapatia faked her own death in the late '90s
but was
discovered alive in California. Never gave a reason for faking her
death.
Though many believe it was an effort to defraud the US Government.
After
retiring from adult movies in the mid 90s, she tried to distance
herself from
the adult film industry as much as possible and is said to be very
regretful about
doing adult movies. |
