Don’t let the name fool you. Darby Lloyd Rains was, in every sense of the word, a real vixen. Blessed with stunning looks, long legs, a knockout rack, supple curves, and an insatiable appetite for on screen sexing, Darby was one of the most prolific actresses of the 70s sex scene, churning out over 50 features, and numerous loops, during her carnal career. Darby got into the industry during its infancy, starting out in Swedish Erotica loops, she was in the perfect position when the attention shifted to full length features. It didn’t hurt her any that she was an extremely competent actress, as the early days of porn concentrated on plot as much as sex to make a film a success. Darby excelled at both. Her scenes were scorers indeed, and she seemed to get the roles that let her display her talents in both arenas. She was most often cast as a woman in torment, in love with a man who either broke her heart or disregarded her all together. She starred in some of the era’s most classic features. Her best work, is considered to be found in ‘ Naked Came the Stranger’ & ‘Every Inch a Lady’. She was equally scintillating in straight scenes as she was in lesbian scenes, and fans loved her for it. Darby retired in the early 80s, before the Video Boom took over hardcore, and made acting talent less & less important to a feature’s overall success. She is a member of the AVN Hall of Fame.
