One of the most successful Amer-Asian starlets to ever grace the blue screen, Asia Carrera has solidified herself as one of the true legends of the industry. Asia was born & raised in NYC, where she was a prodigy of major proportions. Showing a propensity for musical aptitude, she became an accomplished pianist, having performed at Carnegie Hall twice, by the age of 14. At 16, she headed off to Japan as part of an exchange program, to teach English at Tsuruga College. Upon her return at 17, she was awarded a full scholarship to Rutgers University, where she went on to double major in Business & Japanese.

It was while at Rutgers, that Asia was in need of money and got herself a job stripping. This led Asia to the world of nude modeling and soon she was doing layouts for many of the men’s mags that were based in NYC. Porn Director & ex-husband to Hyapatia Lee, Bud Lee, took notice of one of those layouts and arranged a meeting with Asia. He offered her work in hardcore, so she ventured out to LA on spring break taking the plunge into sex cinema. She never returned to Rutgers. Instead she became an overnight sensation in the industry. In 1994, one year after her entrance in X, she was named by AVN as the Female Performer of the Year. Originally signed to an exclusive contract with Vivid, she became the industry’s top starlet and eventually married her mentor, Bud Lee.

The marriage has since dissolved among charges of Lee’s battering & abuse of Asia (the same reasons were sighted in his marriage to Hyapatia). Asia has since semi-retired from in front of the cameras, and has settled into the role of mother to her daughter. She still maintains a presence in the biz with her website and an occasional dance appearance or vid shoot. She is a member of the genius intelligence organization, MENSA as well as the AVN, FOXE & AFAA Halls of Fame.
